When to use this tool
Financial reports: Pull numbers from a PDF invoice, statement, or report into a spreadsheet for further analysis.
Data entry avoidance: Skip manually retyping tables from a PDF into Excel.
Combining data sources: Bring PDF-only data into a spreadsheet so it can be merged with other datasets.
Important considerations
Table detection works best on PDFs with clear, bordered, or gridded tables. Tables without visible borders, scanned images of tables, or complex merged-cell layouts may not be detected accurately or at all. If a page contains no detectable table, its content won't appear in the output. This tool is not OCR — it reads the PDF's underlying table structure, so it can't extract tables from scanned image-only pages. For plain text instead, try PDF to Text.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this work on scanned PDFs?
No. This tool reads table structures from digitally-created PDFs — it doesn't perform OCR, so tables inside scanned images won't be detected.
What kind of tables convert best?
Tables with visible gridlines or clear borders convert most reliably. Loosely spaced text without borders may not be detected as a table.
Will formulas or cell formatting be preserved?
No, only the extracted text values are placed into cells — formulas, colors, and formatting from the original PDF are not recreated.
What if my PDF has more than one table?
The tool extracts one table per page. If your tables are each on their own page, all of them will be included in the output, in page order. If two or more separate tables appear on the same page, only one of them is extracted.
Are my files kept private?
Yes. Uploaded files are automatically deleted from our server shortly after processing.
